2008-2009 Scholarships for New Freshmen and Transfers

CLU's scholarship program recognizes student achievement in academics, leadership, and the visual and performing arts. The following list represents the core scholarships awarded to incoming students. Please note that the academic criteria listed for each scholarship is an approximation based on awards to the class of Fall 2007. Students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA while attending CLU to maintain eligibility.

Transfer Scholarships are based on a combination of college GPA and the number of transferable credits. Students are encoraged to complete coursework that meets CLU's Core Requirements. By doing so, students may increase scholarship eligibility. For details, please contact your transfer admission counselor or call 805-493-3135.

* A separate application is required. For more information about the Presidential Scholarship please visit the Presidential Scholarship website. The Presidential Scholarship will take the place of any academic merit scholarship. Starting in 2009-2010, students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA to keep this scholarship.

Tuition Exchange

Type of Award Amount Criteria:
ELCA Tuition Exchange***

Up to 80% of Tuition

Exclusively for dependents of faculty/staff at other eligible ELCA schools.

National Tuition Exchange Up to 100% of Tuition Exclusively for dependents of eligible faculty/staff of colleges who participate in the Tuition Exchange program. More information can be found at www.tuitionexchange.org.

*** Exclusively for dependents of eligible faculty and staff of other ELCA schools. Awards are competitive and availability is assessed annually based on the number of students CLU sends on the exchange (exports) and students CLU receives on the exchange (imports). Students must be admitted to the University by March 15th in order to participate. Applicants must also complete both the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and an ELCA application from the Human Resource office of their home institution by February 15th of each academic year. Please contact the financial aid office for details.
