Tutoring Services, brought to you by the Center for Academic and Accessibility Resources (CAAR) are here to provide all students at California Lutheran University the tools to utilize the various tutoring services on campus.  Read further to find out what services will work best for you!  If you have any questions, comments, or are unsure where to start, please contact Amanda Carpenter, an Academic Skills Coordinator in the CAAR office, at ablocker@callutheran.edu, or (805) 493-3259. She will be filling in for Erashel Centeno.

These Services Are…

Departmental Tutoring:

Each department offers tutoring, provided by Departmental Assistants who possess exceptional competence in their chosen subject area.  Click on the subject to find out tutor schedules and locations.

Tutor Training and Support

If you are a tutor or departmental assistant, we are here for you! We offer support, mentoring, and training to all CLU tutors. Visit Amanda Carpenter at the Center for Academic and Accessibility Resources (CAAR) in the back of the library if you have any questions regarding the tutoring that you provide.

California Lutheran University works with the National Tutoring Association (NTA) to provide comprehensive up-to-date information, training, and ethical standards to our Tutoring Services. We are guided by the NTA Code of Ethics, as well as the California Lutheran University Mission and Educational Objectives. To view our Code of Ethics, please click here.

Please view our TRAINING BROCHURE to find information regarding tutor training. Roberta Brodie and Erashel Centeno, certified tutor trainers with the NTA, provide comprehensive tutor training sessions available to all CLU tutors. Tutors who complete this training will become eligible for certification as a nationally certified tutor through the NTA. Certification and membership with the NTA will be paid for by the University.
